Kurt Fendt (Instructor)
Dr. Kurt Fendt is Principal Research Associate in Comparative Media Studies/Writing (CMS/W) and Executive Director of HyperStudio – Digital Humanities at MIT. He teaches Digital Humanities subjects in CMS/W and German Studies courses in Global Studies and Languages.

Andy Kelleher Stuhl (TA)
Andy is a first-year masters student in Comparative Media Studies and a research assistant in HyperStudio. His work centers on creative infrastructures and the politics of sound technologies, which he explores from various angles within sound studies, interaction design, and the digital humanities.

Eileen Rivera
Eileen Rivera is a sophomore at Wellesley College. She is pursuing a pmajor in Media Arts and Science with a minor in Economics. Eileen is interested in UI/UX design, photography, and human computer interaction.

Val Healy
Val is a junior at MIT, pursuing a major in Comparative Media Studies and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. Their interests include cyborg/cyberfeminism, (hand)crafting culture, communal living, radio production, frolicking in the woods, and queer theory. Val resides and revels in the liminal and the interdisciplinary.

Judy is a MIT junior in Course 6-3, Computer Science and Engineering. She’s interested in data visualizations, representing everything from technical discoveries to social phenomenon effectively.

Eva Stern-Rodriguez
Eva Stern-Rodriguez is a Wellesley College sophomore pursuing a major in Media Arts and Science and a minor in English. Eva’s interests are lean more towards Media Arts and Fine Arts,specifically web design, oil painting, drawing, and digital imaging.

Deniz Aksel
Deniz is a junior at MIT studying Biological Engineering. He currently works in the Synthetic Neurobiology Group located in the Media Lab, where he implements computer vision and machine learning methods to automate many experimental procedures. Deniz believes that computation and digital technologies carry immense potential to influence various fields.

Yanni is an EE & CS junior at MIT. He’s worked at CSAIL and his interests lie on the interface of analog and digital systems. He makes power amplifiers for fun and tries to convince everyone to use Gentoo Linux.

Meridian Witt is a junior at Wellesley College. She studies Media Arts and Sciences with a minor in Urban Education. She currently does research at the MIT Media Lab in the Lifelong Kindergarten group. Her passions are urban education, HCI, universal design, and jazz.

Ariana is a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and concentrating in Comparative Media Studies. Her research focuses on processing large amounts of data for computer vision purposes. She is interested in data visualization and applying machine learning techniques to literary and musical works.

Karleigh is a 2016 studying Comparative Media Studies and Philosophy. She works as a research assistant for the Creative Communities Initiative lab where her main focus concerns fan behavior and culture in online spaces, particularly on Tumblr. She really likes writing all sorts of things.

Harihar is a third-year undergraduate majoring in Computer Science and concentrating in Comparative Media Studies. He works as an undergraduate researcher on visualization and query building software for large datasets. He is interested in data mining, visualization, and interaction design.
