Dr. Kurt Fendt is Principal Research Associate in Comparative Media Studies/Writing (CMS/W) and Executive Director of HyperStudio – Digital Humanities at MIT. He teaches Digital Humanities subjects in CMS/W and German Studies courses in Global Studies and Languages.

Josh is a first year student in Comparative Media Studies and a research assistant in HyperStudio. His research sits at the intersection of technology, politics, and the media, with a particular focus on democratic deliberation and decision-making online. Josh’s previous credits include serving as a research assistant at the University of Oxford’s Internet Institute and as an organizer on President Obama’s re-election campaign.

Andy is a second-year masters student in Comparative Media Studies and a research assistant in HyperStudio. His work centers on creative infrastructures and the politics of sound technologies, which he explores from various angles within sound studies, interaction design, and the digital humanities.

Hi! I’m Zygi, a junior at MIT studying Computer Science and Engineering. I’m interested in game design, political science and their intersection - exploring governance and player interaction in virtual worlds. I’m excited to learn more about the ideas and frameworks of digital humanities and apply them in my hobby projects.

Hey! My name is Julia and I’m a junior at MIT studying computer science. I have a keen interest in the arts and the humanities in general. I’m really excited to learn how I can combine my technical skills with my less-technical interests to explore the potential of digital humanities.

Hi! My name is David and I’m a junior at MIT studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I an interested in artificial intelligence and extracting new information from data. I am excited to learn more about how I can apply my technical skills to the humanities.

Alan is a junior in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He has experience in Android Development and is proficient in Python, Java, and C. He is currently focused on learning more about robotics and control.

Hi! I’m Karrie Peterson, a librarian at Hayden Library. I’ve been at MIT about one year. My job is about providing support for research and teaching, especially emerging new kinds of scholarship. That’s why I’m in the DH class, and it’s giving me plenty of ideas where the Library could be better engaged.
